Staring around at his sisters’ old Lookout Tower, on Earth, Raikou helped himself to some food, as there always seemed to be a restocked fridge somehow, even though his sister had long since disappeared. He pondered on this for a moment, before his thoughts wandered to his sister, whom he missed sorely.
He had been closest to her out of any of his family, having not known his mother, and his father dying years before now.
After he had finished eating enough to keep his energy levels up for the training session he was about to go through, he got up, and made his way through the home to the gravity chamber.
Leaving Khaer , his Valheru Soul Reaver, and his Cobra Daggers on the floor outside, Raikou entered the chamber.
"It's been way too long since I've been in one of these. I need to get back into a routine soon," he muttered to himself as he stared at the keyboard, trying to remember what buttons did what.
He reached out and pressed the first two buttons his fingers touched. The air around him seemed to get dense, and he must have weighed a ton.
His knees buckled under him, and he landed face down, hardly able to breathe from the combination of the shock and the pressure on his chest.
When his mind registered that he was on the floor from the gravity having been turned up, he pulled his arms around so that his palms were on the floor, and pushed. His chest was about 4 inches from the floor when he crashed back down again.
Gasping in pain, Raikou rolled onto his side in order to be able to curl into a foetus position. Once there, he rolled back again, to get onto his knees, and pushed his arms up from there, until he was crouching.
Moving his right foot forward, Raikou pushed upwards, until he was in a bent over crouching position. Shaking his head and tensing most of his upper body, he straightened up, and held himself up, pushing against the ground.
About five minutes later, Raikou was feeling more comfortable staggering about the room, though was still not standing completely naturally. He sped up, almost jogging around the room, and was soon able to move normally, though he tired far quicker than he usually would have. He started to stretch his arms, legs, neck, abdomen, and neck, ready to start sparring with himself.
“Split Form would be pretty helpful right about now.” He thought aloud, and then paused. “Guess it wouldn’t hurt to try and practise that again.” Raikou closed his eyes and centred his Ki into one point inside of him, before attempting to split it in two. He felt his energy, strength, and speed, split into two separate forms. Opening his eyes, he looked around, but didn’t see a copy of himself anywhere nearby.
Again, he closed his eyes, and forced the second form of his energy into a separate vessel as he had done several times before he lost his powers, and he was sure he had succeeded before he even opened his eyes. The knowledge still didn’t lessen the thrill he felt from having relearnt this skill that would help so much in his training.
Without words, he and his doppelganger got into identical fighting stances, and the original Raikou charged. His offensive seemed a fair match for his own defence, so for several minutes, kicks and punches flew, most being blocked by the copy of the attacker, but several getting through, often leading to more breaks in the defence, and soon, Raikou had beaten his clone into submission.
After a quick rest, the two were back up, fighting with more energy and ferocity than before. Ki blasts were flying back and forth, unsettling the dust that had become stubborn from spending so long undisturbed on the floor of his sisters’ training room. Raikou soon had a nosebleed, and his doppelganger was sporting a bruised lip, dripping blood, and a black eye, as he knelt on the ground. Raikou panted, as he held his arms up to his right side, charging a blue ball of energy, shouting “Khaaa... Meee...” the ball grew slowly larger. “Haaaaa... Meeeee...” The ball flashed with a bright white for a fraction of a second. “HAAAAAAAAAAAA!” A bright blue beam flew across the room from Raikou’s outstretched arms straight towards his mirror image.
Raikou’s other half was suddenly hidden from sight, as the beam crashed to the ground. Arms snaked around Raikou’s throat, and pulled him back, forcing his spine to collide with an upraised knee. He dropped forward as he was released, and found himself on the floor, gazing up at a replica of himself. His back felt as though it would take a while to recover properly, and he felt unable to continue the training session, thanks to his newly received cuts and bruises.
Closing his eyes, Raikou concentrated on the two separate formations of his energy, and brought them together again, into his own body. Opening his eyes, he suddenly felt the weight of the extra gravity pressing down on his shoulders now that he had relaxed his muscles. The tension from keeping himself tensed for the best part of the last hour had his muscles cramped, and he felt he needed a hot bath.
Turning off the extra gravity in the chamber, he picked up his weapons on his way back into the house of his sister. After a food, bath, and a comfortable bed for once, he’d feel good as new.
