The Space Pod shook violently as it collided with the soil of the Tuffle Planet. Caym pushed the door open and squeezed out of the gap. The space pod had almost landed on the door so it was a tight squeeze, but Caym managed it; he was pretty skinny. Glancing around, he saw he had landed on what seemed to be a small mountain, with a few small homes built into the rock scattered around.

Where was the legendary Tuffle technology? The huge cities? Caym was getting annoyed at the lack of civilization on this planet in the few days running up to the first hint of a city he had seen. This was unlike any city he had seen on any other planet; the buildings all seemed to be the same colour and shade, a muddy brown.

The city seemed rather quiet, nobody out in the streets apart from him. Choosing a building at random, Caym approaches the door and bangs on it with the flat of his palm. No reply. Caym stepped back and booted the door with the base of his foot. The door crashed open, revealing a dark, dusty room with very little furniture, if any; he can’t see very well in here. Magic flowed to his fingertips, which he brought together. Pale blue fire crackled into life instantly when his fingertips joined together, which he used to scan the room. At first he saw nothing of interest, but as he turned to leave something glimmered, arousing his interest. It was a scouter; just what he had been searching for. This was too weird. Testing it out, however, Caym realised it didn’t work. “Dammit.” Crushing the scouter under his heel, Caym stepped back outside. Wandering through the city streets for a few minutes, he comes across a building with the dark, looming look of a huge abandoned warehouse. Breaking in through a window that was just higher than Caym’s head, he wriggled through, and dropped to the floor, landing lightly.

Scanning the room quickly, by the light of the blue flames he was so adept at producing, Caym saw nothing on the ground, and no doors; just a pile of boxes stacked up in one corner, from floor to ceiling. Flames danced from the tips of Caym's fingers across the room to the boxes, and enveloped the cardboard, burning whatever was inside them, until only embers remained. Still no door leading out of the room, but something shiny, and glowing red hot, was buried within the ashes of whatever had been in the boxes. Caym held out his right hand, palm down over the fire, and the flamed leapt from the ground into his hand. Caym's eyes never left the shiny object, which, now it had dulled slightly, he could see was in fact a large gold coin. Directing his magic into his hands to dim the heat, as he did when playing with fire, Caym picked up the coin and blew on it to cool it down. The coin was old, scarred and faded, but had what looked to Caym like a serpentine figure etched into it. Pocketing the now cooled coin in his jacket, Caym left through the window he had entered by, deciding against exploring the rest of the warehouse. Flame danced between his fingers when he got outside, but when he told it inside his head to expand, it flickered, as if blown by the wind, then died. He frowned and concentrated, staring at his fingers until the pale blue fire reappeared. Twisting the fire between his fingers, Caym studied the natural flickerings, watching for patterns, as he often did. If he focused, he could see into HFIL, though not in great detail, so he rarely bothered.

Outside the next decent sized building he found, Caym could hear low voices, muttering. Confused, he checked the main entrance to the building, and found the door unlocked. He moved forward cautiously, making his way through the maze of corridors towards the voices, which were getting louder and louder the closer he got. The voices weren't muttering, they were close to shouting. He reached a corner, and turned. In front of him was a huge arched door, wide open, beyond which he could see a semi-circle of what looked to be humans, with one standing alone in front of them. Most of these humans were chanting the same words of a language Caym didn't understand, but the lone one, facing Caym, dressed in all black, with his face covered, and vision focused fully on the book, was chanting in a language Caym recognised from his years in HFIL. Sounded like a religious chant from what he was saying, so he decided to ignore it. But when he moved his head to walk away, he noticed a small child who had been hidden behind a particularly large member of the semi-circle group. Caym paused and cocked his head to listen to the leader of the group, keeping his eyes on the child. The child was about 8, if he was human, extremely pale, with dark hair, and a ragged old dusty suit. His bright blue eyes seemed to be glowing slightly, giving him a rather eerie look. Something unsettled Caym about the child, so he stepped into the room, unnoticed, and paced forward until he could see the child clearly, but was out of the line of sight for any of the chanting adults. If the black clad leader looked up, he'd see Caym straight away, but he seemed absorbed in the book he was reading aloud from. Just as Caym decided he was a priest, his voice rose, and an unnatural wind started to circle the room. Caym's eyes narrowed, to avoid getting dust in them, and the boy rose an inch or two from the floor. The light left the boys eyes, and he dropped to the floor. A dim, colourless ball of light appeared in mid-air before a particularly tall, broad, and dark skinned member of the group. Suddenly, the entire group seemed to spur themselves into action in the same instant. Either nobody noticed, or they just didn't pay attention to Caym. The group worked together perfectly, using magic Caym could now feel in the air to direct the ball of light where they wanted, attempting to deflect it towards the priest, who stood stock still, eyes closed, still chanting. As Caym watched, the ball of light drew towards one of the women in the group, the woman stretched her left palm out in front of her purposefully. A black aura started to shimmer around the woman's hand, which the light recoiled from. One man turned to look at the priest for a second or two, and as he did, the ball shot straight towards him. On contact with the man's arm, the ball vanished. The mans dark eyes turned instantly blue, and shone as the childs had before the light had appeared. The magic power inside the man flared instantly. Even Caym, who was almost unable to sense magic or power levels in anyone could feel this change.
