Raikou turned from the others in the group, having an idea, and drew Khaer from the sheath on his back, but not before taking a swig of the Argon Lixor. He focused, and made an unaimed slash into the air in front of him, opening a portal to another planet. He climbed through, and willed the portal closed, replacing the sword to its home. He looked at the circle of wizards standing around him. He was in a large hall, benches patterned in a semi-circle around a stage.
"Hi... Anyone know where the Wizard council is?"
One of the older and sterner looking wizards replied; "You're standing in the middle of it. Why." He seemed angry.
Raikou placed his hand on the back of his head. "Well, I dunno if this entrance puts you in a good view of me, but is there any way I could learn to perform any type of magic?"
The wizard who had first spoken replied again. "The Greater Path is too great for any other than full-blood wizard. The lesser path requires months of training and practise."
"I have just the place. We can do it in a day."
"No, we-" Started the wizard.
"You don't understand." Raikou interrupted. "I know of a place where we can do a years worth of training in a single day. It slows time. I want to learn in time to find the Earth Dragonballs before the planet is destroyed by Damian's attempts."
"But still, you think you deserve even the lowest rank of wizardry?" Asked the Council leader. He seemed to be the only wizard present that could speak at all. "Even if there are, I would doubt that there was any wizard present here that would be willing to teach you the abilities nece- WHAT IS SO FUNNY!?!?"
Raikou was thinking that even if none of these wizard did want to teach him, he could force them. He could not sense a Power level above a quarter of a million in the room, though he did not answer. He was only laughing a little anyway, he could not see why this old geezer was getting so worked up.
One wizard stepped forward. Raikou could sense a considerable amount of Power in this wizard, compared to the others in the room "I would teach him, once several conditions have been met. Money has been an issue lately, right? I propose we take several hundred thousand zeni, and get him to work for us for a while. He seems strong enough to do as much work in just one night as three of us could in a week."
The Council leader concidered for a moment, before asking Raikou, "You have money?" Raikou nodded. "How much?" Raikou pulled a large wad of notes from a small pocket he conjured into thin air, where he kept most of his stuff, other than Khaer. He held it up in front of the assembly of wizards, one of which laughed. "Is that it?" Asked the leader.
In response, Raikou silently stepped to the side of the small portal of sorts, letting the wizards have a full view of more money than could be seen through such a small portal. The council leader smiled fr the first time since Raikou had appeared, but that disappeared just as quickly. He stepped back in the way of the portal, and looked at the wizards in front of him. "How much will it cost?"
Several answers came from the crowd, but the leader decided on 200,000,000 Zeni. Raikou swore silently, but the wizards did not hear. "How are you going to see whether I deserve to learn?"
"From the portals, it seems you know how to do basic magic, although that is easy for even the weakest of the Lower Path magicians. The main thing is, you have the ability." The one who had offered to teach him was speaking. "But... we need to see how you fare without magic or weapons."
Ten minutes later, Raikou was in a large collusseum type stadium. He stood alone, other than a wizard. As he looked for an opponent, the wizard cast a spell at him, which nearly caught his arm. Raikou rushed forward as the wizard strated to chant for another spell.
Raikou leapt to the side of this spell, just as he reached the wizard, firing a ki blast into his side. A red beam of light flew past his ear, and crashed into the stand where the audience were. Raikou fired off several ki orbs at the wizard, who used a shield to stop them.
The sayain charged a Khamehameha and as he went to fire it, teleported behind the wizard, who tried to block with a shield, but was too slow. In an instant, the collusseum disappeared, bringing a dark room into view. The Khamehameha disappeared, absorbed into nothing.
He looked around him. The one who had offered to train him walked up to him, extending a hand. He looked a lot younger than the other wizards, only about 30 years old. "I forgot to introduce myself properly. I am Pug, a follower of the Greater Path." He indicated an older wizard behind him. "This is Kulgan, a follower of the Lower Path. He taught me, as I shall teach you. If you pass the expectations."
Raikou spent the next ten minutes in a trance, put in it by Pug, and his mind explored, his alliance put as a number out of 100. Later, he found the result sheet, and found he had passed. The parts that really stuck out were his Alliance, Power level, and the path he was suited to. The sheet read:
Name:
Raikou
Alliance %:
76
Power Level:
287,000,000
Magical ability:
High
Best suited Path:
Greater
Notes:
Seems to learn quickly and may learn magic quicker than previously expected.
??Blood is thicker than paper??
Mental transfer could actually work.
Pass
The last two lines confused Raikou a lot. What could 'prophecy' mean? He replaced the paper quickly as a wizard walked in, and leaned against the wall. The wizard glanced at him, then shuffled in front of him.
"So, did I pass the test?" Asked Raikou.
The wizard looked at Raikou, then pulled a sheet from under a pile of folders. "You still have far to go, young Alfie."
"Errm... did you just call me Alfie? My names Raikou."
"Aaah, errrm... heres yours!" The wizard pulled out the sheet Raikou had been looking at a minute before. "My, my, my, you are powerful, aren't you. You seem tinted towards the good forces... learn quickly eh..."
He stared at Raikou, holding one hand out, making sure not to break eye contact. Raikou returned the stare, and the two stood stock still for a full two minutes. Then the wizard said, "Your portals... open one again." Raikou opened his item portal, and removed a small sum of zeni, replacing it quickly.
Pug walked into the room, and looked at Raikou. "Well done, boy. Even Hochopepa admits you have talent. Follow me."
Five minutes later, Raikou was on the top of a tower, wierd looking instruments of prophecy and star-gazing. Raikou looked through a strange sphere, constructed from a comple latticework of metals.
He could see the stars in the sky above him clearly, but five stuck out more than the rest. They were red, with one in the centre, and the other four around it, it a sort of 'X'.
Pug spoke; "They are called the Bloodstones. A prophecy has been spoken for them, which has been fulfilled thrice. No-one can agree on which of those three the prophecy was about."
As he spoke, a bright blue light shot from the dark skies over the heads of Raikou and Pug. Raikou stood erect, and looked up at the source, then Pug yelled; "RUN!" The two rushed to the door, on the other side of which was a flight of stairs leading down to the ground floor.
Raikou stood riveted to the spot, as more shot down from different directions. Slowly, the orbs began to change direction as they flew, curving their path, more and more each time. After a few minutes, there were 12 orbs in a circle, ten metres above him, each a different colour. Small dark shapes, somehow disturbing, lay within the orbs. "What are they?" Raikou wondered aloud.
"The twelve eyes." Replied Pug in awe, as another wizard rushed onto the top of the tower. "There is supposed to be no being alive with the power to summon it. It is an ancient spell of Legend. It is both a vehicle for seeing and a weapon." There was a loud buzzing sound, and the orbs were connected with thick strands of energy. The orbs started to rotate, and were soon spinning too fast for the eye to see, and soon became a solid disc of energy. A giant beam of energy, larger than any Raikou had ever seen. shot from the centre of the disc, and hit an invisible barrier a few metres above the tower. The wizard that had just come to the top of the tower shouted in pain. Pug told Raikou; "Micah's mind is the key-stone to the protection of the Abbey." Each time the bolt of energy hit the barrier, Micah yelled in pain.
"I am surprised the barrier is holding." Micah muttered, before yelling one more time, and pasing out as the barrier shattered.
Raikou rushed to the centre of the tower top, ignoring Pugs shouts that it could have killed even Damian.
Raikou raised his hands above his head, and waited until the beam struck, yelling "ABSORPTION!!!". There was a sound like the roaring of athousand lions, and the beam was absorbed into Raikou. "Pug, you were right, it could have killed Damian easily. But now... so could I!" His Pl has risen by the billions, though it would slowly go down, though he would gain several hundred million Pl for the power of these blasts. Making the most of what he had, he fired off a single, giant blue ki orb into the centre of the disc, and absorbed it as it rebounded.
Another of the energy beams fired down at the tower. "ABSORPTION!!!" Yelled Raikou causing the sound once more, soneding like athousand lions, his muscles bulking to Legndary Super Sayain-like proportions, multiplying his power many times more than even SSJ4. He was unable to hold the power he now owned, and burst into the most powerful transformation he had ever felt. Pug yelled something, but the roar of his aura was too loud to hear him over. Raikou fired another ki orb into the centre of the disc, which slowed down once more, and wobbled slightly as it started to spin. A third and final energy blast shot down at the Sayain, who was nearing Godly power. "One more time now! ABSORPTION!!!" For a third time, the sound of a thousand lions roared throughout the planet, and Raikou's aura grew sky high, engulfing the twelve orbs in the sky above him, disintergrating them. His muscles by this time were larger than that of Kaenok, even in LSSJ3. He turned to face Pug, and saw small motes of stardust-like stuff, falling from the sky, the remains of the orbs. Each mote flared and disappeared one by one. Pug stared in awe at Raikou, who was standing currently around 3 metres tall.
Pug slowly walked over to Raikou, and bowed in thanks to the huge Sayain, who had a mark on his chest, rather like Damians. His hair, though tinged blue-ish, was also coloured and styled just like Damians. In all, he looked like a more powerful Damian.
"No, Pug, straighten yourself. I must go, to finish the saving of the Planet Earth. Though we have not done much today, I count you as a good friend. I shall return someday to finish the training, and learn how to perfom this magic."
"Ah, Raikou... you do not realise. You know magic. You have the ability, the potential. All you need is more practise in the arts, to replace that of which you call Ki. You were the most powerful warrior I have ever seen, even before coming up here. I count myself lucky to have met you, and I, along with the entire Council, owe you my life, in return for saving ours, and this castle. Goodbye, friend."
Raikou nodded saying "I may still come back to learn more types of magic and how to perfom other spells", before he turned, ITing to Toka's Ki signature, ready to collect the Dragonballs.
(Pl gain = 163 mil.)
